Lev S. Hirschhorn - October 19, 2008
This report is a few weeks late. But I'll sum up what I've been doing.
Last week I worked very closely with Annie Hodges to get funding for the opening of the Prospect Hill Terrace Community Center. I along with a number of other Senators submitted and passed a Senate Money Resolution authorizing the project up to $500. Cool stuff.
I held a second meeting of the Social Justice Committee and we selected a non-Senate chair: Meryl Schulman. We also selected three issues to work on this semester.
Firstly, we will be looking at Brandeis' admissions policies and policies regarding TYP and financial aid; we will be looking at Brandeis' disability policies and working with the Disabilities Community to look into ways to make Brandeis more accessible. Finally, we will be running 'Know Your Rights' trainings and advocating for the rights of Brandeis students.
Our next meeting will be held Thursday October 23 at 9 PM in the Union office.

Lev S. Hirschhorn - October 12, 2008
Its been a few weeks since I've submitted. So I suppose I have a lot of reporting to do.
For awhile I was working with Student Activities to discuss coffeehouse fees. Ultimately I was unable to figure out how to make it easier for club leaders. I don't envision the policy (of F-Board not funding coffeehouses) changing this semester. But I imagine that next semester we'll be able to come up with a good compromise (perhaps F-Board pays $20 and the club pays $30?).
I also held a meeting of the Social Justice Committee. Though we have not yet decided on a project to take on this semester, we came up with a rough list of ideas for where to begin:
- Something with the Ethics Center
- The Prospect Hill Community Center
- Gender Neutral Housing
- Social Justice Event with the College of Arts and Sciences
- Know Your Rights trainings
- Admissions/Financial Aid/TYP
- Sweatshop-Free
- Endowment Transparency
At our next meeting, on October 16 at 9 PM, we’ll narrow this list down, decide on a mission statement, and decide on the non-Senate chair of the committee.

This is my first project report, so I hope I'm doing this right.
For the past few weeks I have been working on Brandeis Votes. I contacted clubs and signed them up for the competition and help compile folders of voter registration forms to be picked up by the clubs in the Student Union Office.
The competition ends in about a week and I hope it will be a success.
I am interested in gathering people who would like to be on the Social Justice Committee.
