How To Request Money

Clubs can request money from a variety of sources. Some of the most prominent sources of funding are listed below. For more information, contact the Finance Board Chair.

Finance Board

The Finance Board conducts Marathon sessions near the end of each semester to grant funding requests for the next semester's activities. During each semester, the Finance Board conducts weekly Appeals meetings to grant additional monies for unforeseen requests. Please read the Funding Scope for details on what the Finance Board will fund.

The Finance Board holds appeals meetings every academic Monday starting at 9:20pm. Club leaders may schedule a time slot by emailing the Finance Board Chair no later than Sunday at 5:00pm. Club leaders should fill out an Appeals request form online on myBrandeis. For more on Appeals procedure, please refer to the Appeals Instructions page.

Appeals results are listed on myBrandeis within 24 hours of the Appeals meeting. Instructions on accessing this information are listed on the Allocations Result page. If you have any questions about your allocations, please email the Finance Board Chair before spending your allocated funds.

Union Senate

The Student Senate meets Sunday nights at 7:00PM in Conference Room C (third floor Shapiro Campus Center) and has a discretionary budget that it can allocate to individuals or clubs to be used for events and programs taking place during the semester. Any student or club can come to the senate to request money, whether or not they are part of a chartered or recognized organization. To request money, you need to first:

Other Sources of Funding

While the Finance Board and Senate only grant money for specific purposes and events, many clubs supplement their discretionary budgets through outside fundraising. Fundraising can take many forms, including holding Coffeehouses or Stein Nights, sellings goods or services, holding raffles or auctions, or other activities. Money gained through fundraising may be spent however a club wishes in accordance with a club's statement of purpose. For help with club fundraising, contact the Finance Board Chair.

Clubs may also borrow equipment and resources from other clubs. An online property tracking system will be functional soon so that clubs may easily search inventory. While the club that posesses the property has first dibs, clubs are encouraged to share equipment and supplies.

One final avenue of support is through event co-sponsorship. Many organizations and departments on campus are willing to co-sponsor specific events. Such offices and organizations include, but are not limited to:
