A1. LAST Cheryl Ann's Challah Sale!

Stop by to pre-order challot this week in either Usdan or Sherman:
Monday-Wednesday: Usdan 12-2pm and Sherman 5:30-7:30pm.

$6 each for plain, raisin, and WHOLE WHEAT challah.

Pay when you pick up your challah on Friday in Lower Usdan between 11am
and 1:30pm.  

If you cannot make it to the tabling times, you can email your order to
athomas@brandeis.edu.

Proceeds go to Magen David Adom, the Israeli Emergency Ambulance
organization.

A2. Bill Ayers Tickets On Sale This Week
------------------------------------------------------------------------
William Ayers, Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of
Illinois at Chicago, and former member of the radical anti-war group,
the Weather Underground, will speak on social justice movements and
lessons from the anti-war movement.  The event will take place from
8:30 to 10:30 on Thursday, April 30th, and two open town hall meetings
will take place on the preceding Monday and Wednesday (4/27 and 4/29).

Tickets are available this week! They will go on sale at the DFA
coffeehouse (4/20), and then will be available in Usdan from Tuesday
(4/21)through Monday (4/27).  Tickets are available to the Brandeis
community ONLY, and cost $5.  Must have a valid Brandeis ID to
purchase.  Email Mariel Gruszko at mgruszko@brandeis.edu to purchase
tickets, or if you would like to attend but cannot afford a ticket.

This event is co-sponsored by Democracy for America, Students for a
Democratic Society, the Brenda Meehan Social Justice Grant, and the
PAX, Education, and History departments.

A3. Hillel Elections!

This is a friendly reminder that Hillel elections season has begun!
Declaration of candidacy ends this TUESDAY (4/21) at 7pm, so don't
forget to sign-up outside of the Hillel lounge if you're interested in
running.
 
Important Dates for Candidates:

**Declaration of Candidacy- 9am Monday, April 6 to 7pm Tuesday, April
21.  Sign up on the bulletin board outside of the Hillel Lounge. (If
you are abroad, pick a proxy.)
**MANDATORY Candidates Meeting- 7pm Tuesday, April 21 in the Hillel
Lounge
**Candidates' Forum- Wednesday, April 22 @ 9pm in Pearlman Lounge.

A7. Join the Brandeis Pluralism Alliance Steering Committee in 09-10
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Brandeis Pluralism Alliance (BPA) invites applications for new
members to join the Pluralism Alliance Steering Committee, which is
responsible for advising all of the initiative’s activities. The
Steering Committee also selects grant recipients for projects
addressing issues of identity, pluralism and unity at Brandeis, and its
members serve as liaisons to grants recipients and organize Pluralism
Alliance meetings for representatives of student organizations (and
other faculty, staff and students) to share and discuss ongoing

A8.  LYSISTRATA: A Senior Thesis

Come see LYSISTRATA this week!

The women of ancient Greece decide to stop their husbands from going to
war – in a very creative way. Three actors play all the parts in this
up-to-date translation of an outrageous classic (literally) comedy that
uses its laughs to explore questions of war, peace, and other social
themes.

A9.  "Lose  the Shoes" 3v3 Barefoot Soccer Benefit
------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Friday, May 1st, from 4-8pm, Brandeis University will host its
biannual “Lose the Shoes” 3 v. 3 barefoot soccer tournament on Chapels
Field. All of the proceeds from this tournament will directly benefit a
non-profit organization called Grassroot Soccer, which uses the power of
soccer to raise awareness about the AIDS epidemic that is devastating
Sub-Saharan Africa. Teams can have a minimum of three and a maximum of
six people. There is a registration fee of $10 per person, which can be
paid on the day of the event. The winning team will receive a PUMA
warm-up kit and drawstring bag. The winner of the soccer ball juggling
contest will also win a prize from PUMA. Free snacks and drinks will be
provided by Hannaford’s and Shaw’s. To register a team or volunteer your
time, please contact Amanda Bellmar at abellmar@brandeis.edu. Be one of
the first 10 team captains to register your team and receive a PUMA
ball or t-shirt. Also, you can sign up in Usdan from 11am-2pm from
Tuesday, April 21st to Friday, April 24th. All teams wishing to
participate must be submitted by Wednesday, April 29th.

A10.  Liquid Latex's 2009 Show- You Are What You Wear?

Come to this year's Liquid Latex show! We have 10 amazing groups in 2
Acts! Tickets go on sale in Usdan M-W from 11:30-2pm and from 5:30-7pm.
We have sold out for the past few years, so get your ticket early!

A11.  "All Springs," a play
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Festival of the Arts, come along the journey of mythic characters,
starting in the courtyard and meandering through the Foster wing of the
Rose Art Museum.  Based on Ovid's "Metamorphoses," "All Springs"
incorporates physical theater and contemporary dance to create a
dream-like realm, bringing ancient Greek mythology to life!

Join filmmaker & activist Judith Helfand for an interactive evening of
screening, feedback & discussion -- featuring her new
documentary-in-progress COOKED. July 1995: heat wave hits Chicago, 739
people die in one week. Survival? Determined by the class of
neighborhoods where people live: air-conditioned supermarkets or
boarded-up stores? COOKED is a film and a community engagement campaign
that will ask hard questions and explore dynamic, "green" solutions
taking root in the post-industrial corridors of our nation's cities –
Chicago, Detroit, Oakland, South Bronx (NY), Springfield (MA).

this year, the Silent Art Auction gives members of the Brandeis
Community an opportunity to showcase their talents and have others bid
on them, with all proceeds going to the Brandeis Arts Council. The
auction takes place during the Festival opening reception (with free
Mexican food!) and throughout the evening, in conjunction with the
undergraduate A Cappella Fest in Slosberg Music Center. Please stop by

Joshua Bennett, Brandeis Admissions staffer, performs acoustic-folk-type
music, all original material. His live performance debut took place on
Saturday September 26, 2008 in Cholmondeley's.

as part of the Department of Student Activities' Taste of Waltham
series!

WBRS Coffeehouse, the only free weekly live acoustic music series in
the Boston area, originates from the Multipurpose Room of Shapiro
Campus Center at Brandeis University every Friday midday at 11:30am,
can be heard live on WBRS 100.1 FM as well as on live webstream at
www.wbrs.org, and is free and open to the public of all ages. For this

supprt greater health care accessibility for New Orleans, LA. Walkers

students are focused on!
