A1. Speak Italian? Rare visit from renowned Italian professor
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Professor Gianluca Giannini is a Professor of Philosophy at the the
Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II. During his visit in the
United States, he will conduct three seminars at Brandeis about Elia
Benamozegh and concepts of difference and tolerance.
Seminars will be conducted in ITALIAN, but are open to ALL.
On Monday, February 23rd he will first introduce the role of
Judaism in 19th century Italy and why Livorno (a small Tuscan city) is
an ideal starting point for this discussion.
On Wednesday, February 25th he will then look at the figure of Elia
Benamozegh and focus on the concepts of difference an tolerance .
On Thursday, February 26th, he will then discuss current events in
Italy taking into particular consideration the philosophical concepts
of difference and tolerance that he outlined in previous classes.

A2. American Cancer Society Paint the Campus Purple Week
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life represents the hope that
those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face
cancer will be supported, and that one day, cancer will be eliminated.
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It
is a unique event that offers communities an opportunity to participate
in the fight against cancer.

A3. Art Auction for Charity (Bernstein Festival of the Arts)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a student run project for the Festival. We're meeting on
Tuesday, February 24 at 8pm in Lower Usdan. We're looking for
volunteers to help organize this event. Our aim is to give the chance
for Brandeis artists (from all over the Brandeis community) to exhibit
their work, visitors to bid, and all proceeds would go to charity
(still to be determined). Come help us bring the arts back to
Brandeis!

A7. Culture X Logo Design Contest
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Want to be the designer of this year's Culture X logo?
This year's Culture X theme is Rise UP!!! The theme can be interpreted
in many ways, but is a metaphor for rising up against the obstacles
facing the world and economy today. We are looking for a logo that can
capture the feeling behind Rise Up!!! The only requirement is that the
logo have a picture of a "rising phoenix" and is simple yet creative
enough to be printed onto T-shirts. The winner of the logo contest
will have their design on all of the Culture X 2009 T-shirts and
receive a free T shirt of their own!!!!!

* Are you interested in engaging with social justice work in the

community, and to engage others in issues that you care about from
