A2. Brandeis Counseling and Rape Crisis Hotline, Spring Training Appl.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Brandeis Counseling and Rape Crisis Hotline (x6TALK) is a
student-run organization that seeks to serve Brandeis students in their
times of greatest need. We are currently accepting applications for our
Spring 2009 training class.
The training class will take place over the first three weeks of the
Spring 2009 semester. It is a very large time commitment, but it is
invaluable in knowledge and life skills. This application is for
acceptance into the training class, not the hotline itself. We take our
anonymity and confidentiality quite seriously, and request that you not
tell anyone of your application to start this process. To apply to the
training class, please answer the questions below, and include your
name, year, mailbox number, phone number, and e-mail address. Please
submit the application to Brandeis6Talk@gmail.com on or before
Wednesday, December 3. Someone will be in contact with you within a few
days to schedule an interview.
Why do you want to work for the BCRCH?
What are your personal strengths and weaknesses that could aid or
hinder crisis work?
What role do you think the Hotline should play in the Brandeis
community?
Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?
On what day of the week and time (between December 4 and December 9)
would you be available for an interview?
Thank you for your consideration and time.

A5. GoCrossCampus Tournament
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brandeis is currently battling in the UAA championship of GoCrossCampus,
an exhilarating online conquest game that is a cross between intramural
sports and strategy games (similar to Risk). But our team needs more
players! Past championships in the Ivy League and ACC were covered by
the NY Times, and now hundreds of students, alumni, and faculty from
each of our rival schools are starting to battle it out online.
Join our growing force at <http://uaa.gocrosscampus.com>, and help us
march to glory against the UAA. Be sure to use your school email or
you won't be able to play.

B1. Candle Vigil held in Remembrance of the Mumbai Bombings
------------------------------------------------------------------------
December 1, 2008 - 06:00PM Peace Circle (Outside Usdan)
Candle Vigil : In Remembrance of the Mumbai Bombings
In memory of all the innocent lives lost in the terrorist attacks in
Mumbai on the 26th November, let us all come together to pray for the
peace of those deceased and those families who have been left
incomplete. Let us stand united in the face of atrocities. You are
welcome share your thoughts, prayers, poetry and words at the vigil.
Just like the rest of the world, let us get united and wear White
clothing on Monday. Why White? White is the color people wear to mourn
the deceased and white also symbolizes world peace. Please spread the
word across campus and bring all your friends with you.

B3. Waltham Group Bone Marrow Donor Registry Drive
------------------------------------------------------------------------
December 3, 2008 - 11:00AM International Lounge/SCC Atrium
*What is it?
The goal of the drive is to increase the number of people registered
in
the international bone marrow registry. Your cells are then checked
against those that have a need for bone marrow donations such as those
with leukemia.
*What will be happening at the drive?
You will be asked to fill out a form, all of this information is 100%
confidential. Next is a cheek swab and that information will be sent
to a national database. There are NO NEEDLES OR BLOOD SAMPLES!
*Who can participate?
Everyone between the ages of 18-55. This means that most of the
restrictions preventing people from donating blood do not apply to
bone
marrow registering.
*What happens if I am a match?
The chance of being a match is extremely slim. However, if you are a
match it is an opportunity to save somebody's life, 80% of all
donations are done through drawn blood, virtually painless. The other
20% is done through your pelvis; you receive an epidural and the
recovery time is about 3 days.
**When and where?
The drive will be Wednesday, December 3, from 11-2 in the
International
Lounge and on Thursday, December 4, from 10-5 in the Shapiro Campus
Center Atrium.
