A2. Energy Challenge: Do It in the Dark 2008
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Save energy in your residence hall during the Brandeis Energy Challenge.
You will help reduce pollution from electricity generation, reduce your
climate change impact, and earn prizes and respect for your residence
hall or quad. The competition will run for 2 weeks from Monday Nov. 10
to Nov. 23. The residence with the biggest percentage change in energy
use wins!

A4. Kiss Survey Coming Soon!

Look for a survey on "What is a Kiss?" soon.  It will be conducted as
research for a final paper for SOC 169b- Issues in Sexuality.  The
paper addresses the meaning of a kiss according to college students!

The Hispanic UDRs are showing the Spanish film "Talk to Her" (Hable con
ella) Monday, November 10th at 7:30 in Golding Auditorium with an
introduction by Hispanic Studies Professor Fernando Rosenberg.  Come
take a break from your studies with this exciting film by Academy Award
winning director Pedro Almodovar.  Snacks will be provided!

Since 2001 over 2,300 quassam rockets have been fired at Sderot. BZA
(Brandeis Zionist Alliance) is bringing Sderot resident, Noam Buedein,
to discuss the ongoing crisis in Sderot and what it is like to live
there during these times of hardship...
Come hear Noam's story on Tuesday, Nov.11th-5:00 PM in Rapaporte
Treasure Hall (next to the library).

B5. TCFI and Top Score's Joint Performance

November 11, 2008 - 08:00PM                        Sherman Function Hall

Top Score and TCFI are teaming up once again for an evening of musical
performances. Too Cheap for Instruments is an all female, folk/folk-pop
a cappella group with a sense of humor. Top Score is a student run,
orchestral band. These Brandeis groups are proud to showcase their
talents in this annual event. Suggested donation of $2, all are
welcome.

Students for Environmental Action (SEA) Food Policy Group is showing the
movie "The Future of Food." The movie investigates the truth behind the
unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly
filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade.

Africa: Journey to the Motherland!"  

"The documentary features international recording artist and KCA Global
Ambassador Alicia Keys on her epic journey to the motherland and KCA's
commitment to help improve the lives of African children and families

B8. Hebrew College Beit Midrash

November 12, 2008 - 08:00PM             Beit Midrash- Shap dorm basement

Come learn from teachers from Hebrew College, a local non-denominational
rabbinical school, in this series about Judaism and the environment. The
first speaker will be Rabbi Allan Lehmann, the former Brandeis Chaplain.
He will be teaching a psalm about nature. The following sessions, on Nov
19 and 24, will be taught by Rabbi Jonah Steinberg PhD, and Rabbi Jane
Kanarek, respectively.

B9. Energy Fair

November 13, 2008 - 11:00AM                 Shapiro Campus Center Atrium

The Energy Fair is part of  the Energy Challenge between residential
buildings on campus.  The fair will also include office energy use
reduction and tips for off campus students. There will be tables with
various information pertaining to energy choices.  Ride the Energy
producing bike! Eat free snacks and win prizes! Students- bring an old
energy hogging lightbulb and swap it for a free new energy saving CFL
lightbulb.

We are bringing manicurists to International Lounge in Usdan to give
manicures all day!  Manicures are available for $12, all proceeds will
be donated to breast cancer research and awareness. There were also be
guest lecturers teaching up breast cancer prevention and a survivor

Camp Darfur 
Come see a powerful exhibit on genocide in in the 20th century on the
Great Lawn on Thursday, November 13. There will be 5 tents, each
representing a different genocide of the 20th century with action tools
on how to make a difference in Darfur. There will be speakers and
performers in the afternoon.

B12. Brandeis Chapter of the League of Women Voters Meeting

Come to a brainstorming meeting for the creation of a Brandeis chapter
of the League of Women Voters. The League of Women Voters, a
nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active
participation in government, works to increase understanding of major
public policy issues, and influences public policy through education
and advocacy. The president of the local Waltham chapter of the League
will be in attendance at this meeting. All are welcome to come and
participate in helping create this new club that will allow Brandeis
students to get involved with the local Waltham community through
politics and pertinent issues.

B18. UNITE HERE Organizing Training and Workshop for Activists

Interested in organizing? Want to learn a skill that you can use with
your activism at Brandeis and in the future?  Come to an in-depth
training November 16th from 3-6!  The Activist Resource Center (ARC)
has brought in experienced organizers from a progressive union in
Boston (including Brandeis graduates).  This interactive workshop will
focus on the skill of agitation- motivating others to take action on an
issue.  All clubs and organizations are welcome, even if you can only
come for a part of the time.

the Holocaust in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of
Kristallnacht, the night of broken glass on Sunday, November 9 at 4:30

served.
