A3. CAC's Paint the Campus Purple

Be prepared...the Brandeis campus will soon be painted purple right
before your eyes!  For the week of April 7-11, Colleges Against Cancer
will be doing various activities to promote the 2008 Relay For Life
that will be held in December.

Attention Club Leaders!
All clubs on campus must fill out the renewal survey so the Student
Union knows you are still active. If your club has not done so yet, go

the survey before Wednesday April 2nd.
This will be the ONLY deadline extension, and the last reminder.

As the year comes to a close many of us start looking forward towards
what can be done to better ourselves for the next year. Your Student
Union is much the same way. If there is anything you think, feel, know

Comedy writer and Brandeis Alum Mindy Schneider '82 discusses her recent
book, Not A Happy Camper.  Mindy graduated from Brandeis University with
a B.A. in American Studies, earned her M.F.A. from Columbia University,
and has written for various TV programs including Growing Pains and
Who's the Boss.

Professor Arjun Appadurai will launch the Global Brandeis symposium with
a plenary talk intended to engage the broader Brandeis community in
thinking about education, knowledge, and social action in an
international context.

The symposium is designed to stimulate discussion of major global
issues and their implications for Brandeis as it seeks to fulfill its

international engagement

Keynote Address: "The Globalization of the American University"
by Professor Arjun Appadurai '70, The New School, New York City
Tuesday, April 8, 5:00 p.m., Rapaporte Treasure Hall, Goldfarb Library.
Reception/refreshments to follow.

Our special guest for the symposium, Prof. Appadurai will kick off the
events with a talk intended for the entire Brandeis community to think
about education, knowledge, and social action in the 21st century.
Prof. Appadurai is a renowned anthropologist and leading thinker on
globalization, and a former Brandeis Wien International Scholar. He has
written widely about how globalization affects education and community
work, and especially about "grassroots globalization" - transnational
networks intended to create social change from below, at the community

Friday April 4th, held in Schwartz Hall Auditorium! We're going to kick
it off at 8pm with a lesson so you can take what you learned to the
dance floor. We will be serving refreshments and snacks, and when
you're ready to take a break, sit back and watch what members have been
preparing the semester for you to see. Come join and relieve stress, or

Self defense seminars will be held on April 5th and 6th, 3-5 PM, by Sifu
Jason Goldsmith, 3rd degree black belt.
All of the Brandeis Community is welcome to attend to learn practical,

A'cappella group from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
