A1. Jr. Rep. to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee Resigns
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zachary A. Pyle has announced his resignation from the position of
Junior Representative to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee.  He
decided to resign from his two-year post because he is going to be
graduating a semester early.  Rumor has it that Zach has done an
excellent job as a Jr. Rep. to the UCC, and his presence will be
missed.

Yes, yes, the part you have been waiting for - we are going to be
having an election for his position!

Now that you're back in your seat, let me tell you the important
information - the election for this position will be held at the same
time as the First Spring Elections.  The timeline for these elections
and details on what each position does and how to run for them will be
sent within the next week to all undergraduate and TYP students, so get
pumped.

A3. Senior Candid Photo Submission: Deadline March 15th
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The deadline for submitting your favorite photos into the yearbook is
quickly approaching! Quit wasting time with facebook albums and get
your photos published in a piece of Brandeis history. Make sure you get
that classic shot in the book by either dropping off a CD at the Archon
office (2nd floor Shapiro) or e-mailing a few to yearbook@brandeis.edu.
We will be accepting submissions until MARCH 15th!

A4. Lobby Your Congressman for Israel - BIPAC's Caravan to the Capitol
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Join BIPAC as we travel to Washington April 8th to lobby our
congressmen
and hear renowned speakers expound upon the importance of the
US-Israel
relationship and the threat Iran poses.  This is an amazing opportunity
to
get involved directly with policy-making!  Deadline to apply is March
13th.

A6. Affect Climate Change at Massachusetts Power Shift!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Massachusetts Power Shift is a world changing event that will make
Massachusetts a national and global model for action on Climate Change.
Thousands of citizens from across Massachusetts and beyond are coming to
Boston to demand action from their elected representatives and learn
effective tools and strategies to utilize in their communities.
Citizens will engage in a weekend full of activities, including
workshops on climate organizing, city/town break-out sessions around
Green Jobs, and Soul Purpose Live: an afternoon rally on the Boston
Common complete with music, activism, and leadership. The weekend will
culminate on Monday with a lobbying push at the State House to pass the
Global Warming Solutions Act

Students for Environmental Action (SEA) is gathering a group of
Brandeis student to attend this exciting weekend. If you are interested

Looking for a leadership opportunity? Want to become more involved 
in your department or program?  We are seeking Undergraduate
Departmental Representatives (UDRs) for 2008-2009.

Serve as a resource for majors and minors, develop community within
your department or program, enhance faculty/student interaction, and
promote your field of study to potential majors.

A8. SunDeis 48-Hour Film Contest & Volunteer Opportunities
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Get ready: Next weekend, March 7-9, is the 48-hour film contest!  At 5
PM on FRIDAY, MARCH 7th, we will release a list of rules, suggestions,
and requirements at www.brandeis.edu/sundeis.  Films must incorporate
ALL specified components as outlined online, but the rest is up to you!
 Cameras and film editing equipment is available for use in the Getz
Media Lab on the bottom floor of the main library.  Just tell them you
are in the 48-hour film contest!  Final films should be on DVD or VHS,
and are due to Becca Lehrhoff in Shapiro Campus Center 203 at 9am
Monday, March 10th.  Think fast.  Good luck!  Contact Adam Barish with

Volunteer to help out during the film festival!  In addition to helping
with publicity during the week before the event, volunteers will aide
the SunDeis Planning Committee set up programs, run film screenings,
and anything else that may come up.  Volunteers will be invited to a
special reception on Saturday night with the filmmakers and special
guests.

the Death of Environmentalism to the Politics of Possibility" will
present their vision for creating a breakthrough politics to build the

Shellenberger and Nordhaus will make the case that we need a new
movement centered on economic opportunity and technological innovation
that will seize its present moment of opportunity, break with the
politics of the past, and embrace a positive vision of the future which

A Brandeis mentor, a room full of students, and more of life’s greatest
lessons - in the tradition of Tuesdays with Morrie, a noted Brandeis
faculty member shares what she has learned about life.


Professor Smith teaches courses in Anglophone Caribbean literature,
African-American literature of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries,
literary method, and Caribbean women and globalization. She was a
Fellow of the National Humanities Center, and the author of Creole
Recitations: John Jacob Thomas and Colonial Formation in the Late
Nineteenth-Century Caribbean.

Tuesday night 3/4 at 10pm in the multipurpose room in Shapiro (also on 
100.1 fm and wbrs.org) Boston ska veterans The Allstonians will be live
on The Joint. 

In addition to The Joint, the Friday afternoon rendezvous 
with free bagels is the WBRS Coffeehouse. Appearing live in Shapiro
Campus Center this Friday afternoon 3/7 at 1:00pm, as well as on 100.1
fm and wbrs.org, will be NYC quirky, original singer-songwriter Scott
Alexander.
 
To summarize: Tuesday nights will feature all sorts of music and live 
bands, with an emphasis on electric instruments. Friday afternoons will

be the outlet for acoustic performers, also of all kinds of music; 
however we will be featuring a heavy dose of folk and blues on Fridays.

B11. Thu - Lori Lipman Brown, Secular Lobbyist, Speaks at Brandeis
------------------------------------------------------------------------
March 6, 2008 - 08:00PM                                       ICC Lounge

Lori Lipman Brown is a lawyer, an educator, and a former Nevada State
Senator. She is also the first Congressional lobbyist explicitly
representing nontheistic Americans. A frequent guest on various radio,
television, and print media, she speaks throughout the United States to
protect and strengthen the secular character of our government as the
best guarantee of freedom for all. Brown's awards include Civil
Libertarian of the Year from the Southern Nevada Chapter of the ACLU,
Legislator of the Year from the Nevada chapter of the National
Association of Social Workers, and the Mark de Wolfe Award from
Interweave Continental.

She will update us on the types of issues her organization, the Secular
Coalition for America, takes on, and how the lobby for nontheists is
being received on the hill and in the media. She will also tell us what
we (both nontheists and theistic allies) can do to help protect the
separation of church and state.

B14. Sat - WBRS presents A Night Of Hip Hop with Brimstone127
------------------------------------------------------------------------
March 8, 2008 - 09:00PM                                           Chum's

WBRS is featuring a performance in Chum's to bring awareness and
knowledge to all things that are hip hop. The artist Brimstone127 will
be coming from South Florida, along with his DJ and R&B singer
Mariposah. Brimstone127 has been voted Miami's best rapper in 2006 and
2007 and has also performed and recorded with hip hop great KRS-ONE.
There will be rapping, DJing, and singing. In addition, Brimstone127 is
getting the best and talented graffiti artists and breakdancers from
the
Boston area to enhance the peformance. Precede your eXtasY dance night
with some quality hip hop (eXtasY starts at 11pm and Brimstone127
starts at 9pm and will be over by 11pm which means you can first come
to Chum's and then head to Upper Sherman afterwards!) For all things
b-boy, Chums
will be the place to be on March 8.
