A1. Free MLK Day Event featuring US Senator Carl Levin
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AT 6 PM: US Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), chairman of the powerful Senate
Armed Services Committee, will speak on US human rights abuses at Abu
Ghraib prison in Baghdad and Guantanamo prison in Cuba during Brandeis’
observance of Martin Luther King Day. Musical, dancing, and oratory
performances will follow Levin's talk and discussion.


Other MLK Day events include:

-MLK Scholars & Friends freedom trail tours (beginning at 5, departing
from the Shapiro atrium)

A2. Co-ed Field Hockey!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sign up to play on Brandeis' co-ed field hockey club team!  We practice
indoors 2-3 times per week, and we will have a few games in the spring.
 Sticks and experience are not necessary, all are welcome!

A3. Do You Want to Be in Culture X?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Culture X, Brandeis' biggest show of the year, is looking for singers,
dancers, actors, spoken word artists, troupes and groups to perform in
Culture X 2008. Currently applications can be picked up in the ICC and
an online version is forthcoming. Culture X will be held on April 12th
and take place on the Spingold Mainstage. The deadline for submitting
applications is January 31st.

Undergrad Research Assistant Openings with the Student-Scholar
Partnership (SSP) Program out of the Women's Studies Research Center
(WSRC79_320)

The SSP Program is an exciting and innovative employment and learning 
opportunity sponsored by the Women’s Studies Research Center for the
2007-2008 academic year.  The goal of the SSP Program is to match
sophomore, junior and senior undergraduate women and men with scholars
and faculty affiliated with the Women’s Studies Research Center Program
to work collaboratively on research and artistic projects.  Students
gain valuable research experience, benefit from a mentoring
relationship with an established professional, and are paid $9.25/hour!


 Openings are in various fields and all are amazing opportunities to
contribute and learn.  The time requirements is 50 hours per semester
(approximately 5-6 flexible hours per week).  Multiple projects are
available and summaries are below. For more detailed info on available
jobs, view the binder in the WSRC (Epstein Building) or view the binder
in the Women’s Studies Program lounge in Rabb 120.  You can also check

Application deadline is rolling and early applications are encouraged. 
 You must possess strong research and organizational skills; proficiency
in Microsoft Word and Excel;  excellent communication skills; and have
an interest in Women's Studies .  Additional qualifications required

The Justice is looking for a new distributor!
The job requires a few hours on Tuesdays and a car in order to deliver
the paper around campus and to selected locations in Waltham.

Pays $35 a week!

Adagio MONDAY from 6:30 to 7:30 in the CLUB SPORTS ROOM in GOSMAN!

This class is OPEN TO EVERYONE and is great for staying in shape!

B2. Mon - Drive Out Poverty - Textbook Sale
------------------------------------------------------------------------
January 21, 2008 - 12:00PM                                Shapiro Atrium

Did you know you can buy books for your classes AND make a charitable
donation SIMULTANEOUSLY?

Drive Out: Poverty is selling hundreds of used textbooks and books at
CHEAP prices.  These books were donated by students at the end of
semesters, so ALL money raised is donated to anti-poverty initiatives
through kiva.org and donorschoose.org.

The vast majority of books are only $5! We have fiction, humanities,
science books, and more!
