OSRA- OFFICE OF STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITY

Have you ever considered what happens after you have been written up? Did you feel at a loss for what to do? Did you ever feel wrongly accused or that your rights have not been properly upheld? Wish someone could explain the Rights and Responsibilities and the Student Conduct Process to you?

That’s why the Office of Student Rights and Advocacy (OSRA) is here for you.  We are a resource to give you back control when you have that feeling of powerlessness in the midst of the Student Conduct Process. We are a student run club and service that works to inform the student body of their rights. In essence; we ADVISE, ADVOCATE, and INFORM.

ADVISE:
Sometimes it is difficult for students to understand  the Rights and Responsibility booklet. Thus, this can make you feel like you’re at a disadvantage if you find yourself accused of breaking one of the rules in the booklet. We at OSRA aim to advise you, the students. If you find yourself in a compromising situation in which you must defend yourself or wish to charge another with breaching your student rights, we can help you resolve your issue with as much ease as possible.

ADVOCATE:
Sometimes people are wrongly accused. In this situation, we are here for the students if they wish to deny responsibility for an accusation. We are your advocates in your time of need, helping you through the Student Conduct Process. We also provide a safe space where students can discuss their cases safely and discretely as well as deal with people who understand how a hearing works at Brandeis.

INFORM:
It is important to understand the outcomes of your choices if you are found violating a rule, or wish to defend your rights as a Brandeis student. We at OSRA aim to inform you as best as possible so that if you ever find yourself or a friend in a situation, where you are dealing with an accuser such as faculty and staff, a member Community Living Staff (CA or CDC), or even a fellow student, you will be able to make the right decisions so that you can resolve your issues as smoothly as possible.

So what is OSRA?
We are a student run organization created to help you, the student, navigate the complex disciplinary world that is at Brandeis.
